This technical specification aims to provide operators of establishments with major-accident hazards with criteria, methodologies and procedures for assessing NaTech risks on the basis of the best knowledge available at the time. The contents are presented according to the logical scheme of risk management and include the activities of forecasting, prevention, planning, emergency management and recovery in the event of natural events with effects induced on plants with major-accident hazards.
The technical specification highlights the aspects of interrelation with the Safety Management System for the Prevention of Major Accidents of establishments subject to the European Directive 2012/18/EU (known as Seveso III) by providing some methodological guidelines that can contribute to a better accomplishment of the Directive with regard to NaTech events.
This technical specification completes UNI 10617, which in any case applies to the management of all risks associated with the major accident hazards of the establishment, including those induced by natural hazards or disasters or intentional acts.
