The aim of this standard is to define monitoring requirements and methods usable to evaluate the quality of indoor air.
This standard deals in particular with:
- defining the physical quantities to be considered to characterize the "quality" of indoor air:
- specify characteristics of instruments and systems used for measuring and monitoring physical quantities and the measurement and monitoring methods to be preferred for assessing indoor air quality.
- indicate methods useful to interpreting results and specify exposure limits values recommended by the technical standards in force.
Since the characteristics of the instruments indicated in this standard may vary according to the measuring principle chosen for their construction and the way in which they may be used, it will be the task of the experienced user to evaluate the quality of the instruments available on the market at any time and to verify that they comply with the specifications defined in this standard.
