The standard defines the requirements necessary for the performance of the profession of the Ergonomist, i.e., the figure
who, having knowledge of the principles proper to ergonomics, is able to analyze and evaluate and design the
multiple aspects that oversee the interaction between man, machine and environment, constituent elements
of a given system or one being designed, with the aim of defining viable solutions to improve the
mental and physical well-being of operators contextually to performance, overall system efficiency
and well-being in the working and living environments.
These requirements have been outlined, starting from the specific tasks and activities and the identification of the related contents, in terms of knowledge and skills, also in order to clearly identify the level of autonomy and responsibility in accordance with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The requirements are also expressed in such a way as to facilitate and contribute to making the related conformity assessment processes as homogeneous and transparent as possible.
NOTE The certification of persons in accordance with UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17024 is an evaluation process of third-party conformity. This certification, for the purpose of validity with respect to Law 4/2013, is conducted under accreditation for specific standard, as also reported in Legislative Decree Jan. 16, 2013, no. 13 (Legislative Decree 13/2013, [4]).
This standard provides for two professional levels that of the Ergonomics Expert and that of the Ergonomist, differentiated on the basis of the level of knowledge, skills, autonomy and responsibility achieved.
