This standard applies to safety nets and to their accessories, intended to catch and contain objects that can fall from above, with the aim of providing protection to workers and to people who stop and/or transit under a dangerous area.
The standard specifies the minimum requirements to protec workers and people from impact caused by objects.
It specifies safety requirements, test methods and conditions for use and it is based on the performance characteristics of polypropilene fibres.
Safety nets, with a short side less than 2 m and a long side less than 4 m, are designed to be positioned at a vertical distance from the object that can fall, no greater than 4 m.
This standard specifies a system net (O2) consisting, in the lower part, of a safety net according to UNI EN 1263-1:2015 (S system) or UNI 11808-1:2021 or UNI 11808-2:2021 and, in the upper part, by a safety net according to UNI 11808-3:2024, coupled solidly together.
This standard does not apply to safety nets considered in UNI EN 1263-1:2015, UNI EN 1263-2:2015, UNI 11808-1: 2021 and UNI 11808-2: 2021.
