The standard defines an acoustic classification of buildings based on some performance indicators, referred to single rooms and, whenever possible, to the whole housing unit.The standard can be applied to the following kind of buildings, either new, refurbished or existing: residential buildings, offices, hotels, hospitals and nursing homes, worship spaces, recreational buildings, commercial buildings.It cannot be applied to industrial buildings.
