The standard specifies terminology, methods for measuring the characteristics and classification rules according to the mechanical strength for softwood timber intended for use in load-bearing structures. The standard applies to solid wood of any size and humidity, with the exclusion of glued or assembled products for which the elements shall be classified before the same gluing or assembly operations.
