The standard describes the operation and features of telematics systems that acquire and / or remote transmit digitized images of vehicles on base on the automatic recognition of vehicle license plates. The standard could be also applied to all identification systems based on automatic recognition of vehicle license plate, for the purposes of ascertainment of violations to the Road and Highway code (Codice della Strada), for the purposes of authorization to access to public and private areas and the application of toll criteria.
